(Coquillettidia fuscopennata) Yellow fever is a disease that
is spread through the bite of a female mosquito that originates in Africa. This
virus is enveloped in lipids (fats), which makes this virus able to be a
“ninja” and sneak into our cells without the rest of our body knowing through
absorption. The virus is able to do this
because our cells are coated with lipids just like the virus is so our cells
think that the virus is just another cell and not something dangerous and
deadly. This virus has an incubation period of 3 to 6 days, which means that
you could have Yellow Fever and not know it for up to 6 days! The virus goes
into your cells and convinces them to make more of the viral RNA. The cells
agree most of the time and then BANG! the virus shoots out and goes on to the
next cell. There is a vaccination for this virus, so don’t worry. The symptoms
of this virus include: mild infection with fever, headache, chills, back pain,
loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting (most cases). In rare cases symptoms can
also include a toxic phase that causes jaundice of the liver, reoccurring
fever, abdominal pain, bleeding in the mouth, eyes, and gastrointestinal tract
cause vomit with blood called black vomit.

ATTENTION: Crazy Virus on the loose!!!
A virus is described as an infectious agent that replicates only within the cells of living hosts; these hosts are mainly bacteria, plants, and animals. It can be as simple as the common cold, but this my friends, is far more dangerous. Ebola hemorrhagic fever or (Ebola HF)
is part of the Filoviridae family caused by the zaire ebolavirus. This
tyrants main mode of transportation is not for certain, but it always seems to
cause an outbreak. Researchers think that maybe the first person infected
is contaminated by an infected animal though. From there it is spread by bodily
fluids and also by needles. Since this is native to Africa the outbreak spreads
rapidly. Their hospitals and care facilities are not the best so they do not
always take the proper precautions when caring for a contaminated person, which
leads to greater increase of people getting the Ebola virus. It is then spread
throughout the body by RNA replication. This means that it is highjacking your
cells and making them produce their things! This virus is a nasty little thing
and does disgusting things to the body. It's quick; it only takes two to twenty
one days to start making your cells work for it! It can make you have red eyes,
rash, fever, aches and pains, sore throat, and weakness. That's not all either!
After that it causes diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain and can even cause you to
bleed inside and out! AWFULL!!! Making matters worse there is not current
treatment or vaccination. This is partially due to the fact that it is often
spread in the African health care facilities and because it is unknown exactly
where this virus is coming from. The search is on for this terrible
menace and it won't stop 'til we find this culprit! To find out more information visit http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC104478/.
ATTENTION PEOPLE OF EUREKA!!!! FIGHT THE BITE!
Flavivirus or, West Nile Virus, is on the loose and we need your help to catch it! A virus is small non-living particles that can infect your body cells and change how the cells function. A virus can cause a disease. The culprit of this virus is mosquitoes. Mosquitoes that feed on infected birds are causing humans to get the virus. When mosquitoes bite us, the virus gets released into our blood and attacks our cells. The West Nile Virus is a like a sneaky ninja and sneaks into the body. It attacks the cells of the body and forces it to make its bad boy like DNA. In just a few short days you will begin to feel sick and not like yourself. There are two stages of West Nile Virus. The fever stage will include a slight fever, headache, rashes, and swollen throat. The disease stage will start with a high fever leading to disorientation, neck ache, muscle weakness, and possibly convulsions, or falling into a coma. Symptoms can last anywhere from 2 to 15 days depending on how severe the case of the virus is. There is no current vaccine available for West Nile Virus but scientists are close to developing one. There are a few medicines available (Ribavirin) that can help you feel better. To prevent this disease, you can wear bug spray, wear covering clothing, and empty any standing water. Now, if you see any signs of this virus make sure to tell your parents or doctor so they can put it in jail!
